If you have been reading here for a while, you know that faith is a huge part of my life. I first posted about this about 7 years ago, mostly to show the types of pens/things I use for my own bible study. See that post here.
Through the years, group bible study has gone from a small group of women going through Hebrews in my first apartment to a really large group of 30 women meeting up and reading through the book of Revelation together.
My personal bible study has gone from waking up at all hours of the morning to get a little bit of the word in before my very intense medical school surgery rotation to taking my devotional with me for when I have a free moment in the middle of the night on call as an interventional fellow.
I’ll just jump into what I’m using right now.
For my women’s bible study, we are going through the revelation study by Jen Wilkin.
This is really great because I love the way that Jen is able to talk about complex topics. With the Revelation bible study, you get access to the videos, which are really key. This is especially important with an intimidating book like revelation.
I also bought the little companion Revelation book because we all know how much I love to destroy a book by writing in it. This way I feel much better about it since there are whole pages for people like me, book destroyers.
For my personal time, I have been going through the Everyday Gospel Bible- which is basically a “Bible in a Year” plan but in book form. PDT also has a small devotional at the end of each day, which is great for bringing things back to earth after you are reading through all the laws about sacrifices in Leviticus.
For when I’m trapped in the hospital, Daily Light. This book was gifted to me by a sweet friend/mentor. She is a pediatrician and she has been using this devotional for years as well.
The usual suspects: pens, highlighters, notebooks galore.
Time: I have been trying to work on waking up earlier- I have been referring myself to my own post about this lol. There’s just no time like the morning for me- I am not nearly as focused/effective in the evening. Ideally I would love to read the word in the morning and at night and really just bookend my day. We will see how we get there 🙂
Love you guys,
Lise
